WWG ENGINEERING HISTORY

1990

A young 26-year-old Engineer, Willie Wong graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree from a USA university, arrived Singapore. Working in the Horiguchi Engineering Co., Ltd as a Junior Engineer specializing in Thermal Spraying Coating Technology. At that time, Horiguchi Engineering was a big name in the Marine, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering and Thermal Spraying Coating Jobbing Industry. Willie Wong was very lucky getting trained in the R&D Department of Tocalo Co., Ltd, Japan; an undisputed global leader in Thermal Spraying Coating and a very wide range of Surface Modification Technology. Upon Returning to Singapore, he set up and headed a Thermal Spraying Coating R&D laboratory in the company.

1995

A very huge shakeup in the Themal Spraying Equipment Industry. A merger between World No.1 & No.2 Equipment OEMs created a giant called Sulzer Metco. Willie Wong was headhunted to help up the Asia-wide post merger’s integration, heading technical and sales development activities. As a Regional Technical Manager, he was country Manager in-charged of Singapore, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Hong Kong and partially supporting the China market. During this period, he was gaining huge exposure to Thermal Spraying Coating in the Civil Aviation,  Air Force and Military, Power Generation and Automotive Manufacturing Industries.

1996

The Huge Experience and Exposure in many world class organizations on top of R&D laboratory and Engineering background was a base impetus of creating his own business empire in this very niche industry. A small Themal Spraying Coating facility with workshop machining machineries named Frontken (Singapore) Pte Ltd was setting up with a huge ambition in 1996 at Gul Crescent, Singapore.

2006

After 10 years, Frontken was and undisputed market leader offering Thermal Spraying Coating, precision cleaning and mechanical engineering competencies to the Oil & Gas, Semiconductor Wafer Manufacturing Power Generation and Petrochemical Industry. As Chairman and Managing Director, Willie Wong succeeded in bringing the Frontken Group to IPO in the Mesdaq Board of Bursa Malaysia, and successfully migrated into the Main Markets of the Bursa Malaysia.

It subsequently went on to acquire a company Ares Green on the Gre Tai Markets, Taiwan.The above series of business development put the Frontken Group having its physical advanced service plants and offices in 20 locations across Asia, hiring more than 1,000 staffs with annual revenue of exceeding S$80 Million. Today the Frontken Group remains as a Top Technology and Engineering Corporation serving giant clienteles around the globe.

2012

Making a full Exit from the Frontken Group, Willie Wong was putting all his time focusing on new startups and investing into SMEs in the South East Asia region. Over the years, WWG Capital has expanded its investment portfolio into a very wide spectrum of very interesting and diversified portfolio.

  • Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) Advertising Infrastructure Ownership and Digital Platform

  • Commercial Laundry System and Services
  • Large Scale Edible Swiftlet Birdnest Farming and Production

Hence in this year 2012, FATTER Pte Ltd was established focusing on Surface Engineering and Engineering Services.

2022

Ten years after FATTER’s inception in Singapore, Willie Wong is backing in taking the helm at this engineering outfit, and to be in-line with the Group Restructuring and Growth Strategy, a new name WWG Engineering Pte Ltd was born on January 11, 2022, replacing FATTER name. Today, WWG Engineering Pte Ltd prides itself as Singapore Thermal Spraying Coating and Equipment Specialist. Its key strength is equipment refurbishment, repair, rebuilding and re-manufacturing,  primarily serving Marine, Water, Food Processing, Oil & Gas, refineries, Petrochemical industries. Moving forward WWG Engineering Pte Ltd  will anticipate significant technological and business model evolvement under the leadership of Willie Wong.
